What level is my swimmer

Guppy (PIWA)

Ages 6 months to 36 months (3 years). Be prepared to jump in with your child as they learn the most basic of water skills to help them feel comfortable and happy in the water! In the Guppy (PIWA) level, your child will learn assisted back floats, kicks, submersion in the water and turning to safety. Parents and children will learn important safety skills.

Level 1: Starfish/Seahorse

(Ages 3-5 Years Old) / Seahorse (Ages 6-12 Years Old): Level 1. No parents in the water, a group of children learning to swim for the first time. In this class, students will learn to independently float in a relaxed state, will be able to crawl and climb out of a pool, will learn the proper streamline position, and start some independent swim freestyle and backstroke for a few feet. Will end the class with a high comfort level in the water.

Level 2: Clownfish/Swordfish

(Ages 3-5 Years Old) / Swordfish (Ages 6-12 Years Old): Level 2. In this class, students will be able to swim freestyle with their heads in the water, able to swim backstroke independently for a short distance, being comfortable to dive downwards to get rings (comfort in different depths of water), and climbing out, jumping in, and swimming to the wall for safety.

Level 3: Sting Ray/Squid

(Ages 3-5 Years Old) / Squid (Ages 6-12 Years Old): Level 3. In this class, students will continue to strengthen their freestyle and backstroke skills. Continue proper learning of side breathing – bilateral breathing. Start learning the legs and arms of elementary backstroke (breaststroke kick). Intro to treading.

Level 4: Frog/Otter

(Ages 3-5 Years Old) / Otter (Ages 6-12 Years Old): Level 4. In this class, students will continue to master Elementary Backstroke. They will start learning the Breaststroke kick and arms. Continue strengthening their Freestyle and Backstroke distance. Continue working on treading skills. Learning the basis of a flip turn. Learning the basics of the butterfly kick – dolphin kick.

Level 5: Manatee

(Ages 5-17 Years Old): Level 5. In this class, students will continue to learn Butterfly by building on the kick learned in the previous class. They will continue to build their endurance in Freestyle by using both side breathing and flip turns, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and treading skills. Learning the open turn for Breaststroke and later Butterfly.

Level 6: Dolphin

(Ages 5-17 Years Old): Level 6. The focus on this level will be building up their endurances in each of the strokes, learning how to do a backstroke flip turn, the breaststroke pull-out, the IM order, and a strong focus of pushing underwater in streamline before swimming.

Level 7: Great White Shark (GWS)

(Ages 5-17 Years Old): Level 7. This is the final level prior to the hour-long Pre-Comp Swim Team class. In this level, students can swim laps in each of the 4 strokes with proper use of the respectable turns. Endurance swimming in each of the strokes with proper underwater kicking, pull-outs / pull-downs, and streamlines and the ability to swim strokes after each length of the pool.

Pre-Comp Swim Team

(Ages 6-17): This is a one-hour class focused on making each of the four competitive strokes legal and swimming each stroke under a required time. Pre-Competitive Swim team, getting ready to join a competitive swim team or if you want a great workout.

Prerequisite: Completed Great White Shark or be able to swim the criteria of passing GWS – Swim Freestyle with side breathing and flip turns for 200 yards, Backstroke with flip turns for 200 yards, Breaststroke with open turns and underwaters for 100 yards, Butterfly with open turns for 100 yards, and a 200 IM – and have the endurance to swim for an hour. Total yardage swam in this class can range from 1,700 to 3,000+ for the hour.

Teen Beginner

Teenagers from ages 13-17 can learn how to swim and how to be water safe at ClubSport! In the Teen Beginner class, swimmers will learn how to float independently, learn how to swim freestyle with proper side breathing, learn how to swim backstroke, and learn how to tread for a few seconds!

Teen Intermediate

Teenagers from ages 13-17 can learn how to swim at ClubSport! In the Teen Intermediate class, swimmers will learn increase their endurance with freestyle and backstroke, learn elementary backstroke, breaststroke, flip turns, and learning their dolphin kick. Teens who are ready to level up from Teen Intermediate will go into Manatee to learn Butterfly and build up their endurance swimming.

Adult Beginner

It’s never too late to learn how to swim and be water safe, ClubSport offers swim lessons for Adults as well! In our Adult Beginner Class, swimmers will learn how to float independently, learn how to swim freestyle with proper side breathing, learn how to swim backstroke, and learn how to tread for a few seconds!

Adult Intermediate

It’s never too late to learn how to swim, ClubSport offers swim lessons for Adults as well! Adult Intermediate swimmers will increase their endurance with freestyle and backstroke, learn elementary backstroke, and breaststroke! Flip turns, open turns, and Butterfly can be taught after talking to their coach if desired.
